The Community Services Mentoring Program matches senior mentors with emerging leaders in the child and family services sector.

The Centre’s Community Services Emerging Leaders Mentoring Program is designed to support leadership development within the community services sector across Victoria and Tasmania.

The program pairs emerging leaders with experienced mentors, who provide guidance, share insights, and foster professional growth. Through this structured mentoring experience, both mentors and mentees will build confidence, enhance their leadership skills, and strengthen their sector networks.

Why become a mentor?

Mentoring is open to anyone with at least 10 years of experience in the community services sector. As a mentor, you will:

  • Shape the next generation of community services leaders.
  • Enhance your own leadership through coaching and reflective practice.
  • Expand your professional network and gain fresh sector insights.
  • Be part of a sector-wide initiative to strengthen leadership, advocacy, best practice, and workforce wellbeing.
  • Choose a flexible mentoring format, with both virtual and in-person options available.

Why become a mentee?

Community services professionals with 5-10 years of experience in the sector are eligible to apply as a mentee. You can be at any organisational level, and have an eagerness to grow your career through the development of leadership skills. As an emerging leader, you will:

  • Gain guidance on career and leadership development from an experienced sector leader.
  • Explore workplace challenges and sector trends.
  • Receive valuable insights to help navigate leadership pathways.
  • Develop skills in leadership, advocacy, best practices, workforce resilience, and wellbeing.
